Spring Festival, Chinese New Year Singkawang

Chinese New Year, also known as the “Spring Festival” (simplified Chinese 春节; traditional Chinese 春節; Pinyin: Chūn Jié) in modern Mainland China, is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. Granted, that’s Wikipedia talking 😁.

Something to love about the internet era, wouldn’t you say? Anyway, in case you are wondering, lunisolar means relating or attributed to the moon and the sun. With the population of 1.3 billion, plus all the Chinese people spread all over the globe, this celebration is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated festival in the world.

For this year Chinese New Year celebration was held on February 1st 2022. In Singkawang City, as you all know, well, except for those who missed it, this year we are celebrating Chinese New Year with lots of lanterns and meihua flowers with the iconic red envelopes a.k.a (also known as) ang pao.

Except Cap Go Meh, because pandemic COVID-19 still in our country, huhu. We also make sure do activity with extra health protocol every where.

I am verry happy in Singkawang City, because we still celebrated Chinese New Year a.k.a Imlek with lots of red decoration like previous years, and the special iconic Shio (in 2022 we get the year of Water Tiger).

That’s all folks and we’ll see you all next Chinese New Year
